Library Orientation for SYBCom Students: A Visit by Prof. Dr. Devdatta Shete and Class Date 08/07/2025

The Library recently had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Dr. Devdatta Shete along with the SYBCom (Second Year Bachelor of Commerce) class for a comprehensive Library Orientation Program. The session was thoughtfully designed to familiarize students with the wide array of academic resources and services available to support their studies and research in commerce.

Mr. Bachhav, Librarian, conducted the orientation session and introduced students to the Library’s physical and digital infrastructure. He provided an insightful overview of:

  • Library Facilities and Services
  • The Library Portal and how to access it remotely
  • Print and Electronic Resources relevant to the Commerce faculty
  • How to effectively use the Library OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) to locate books and materials
  • Procedures to avail the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) facility for accessing resources from other institutions

Assistant Librarian Dr. Ghule guided students through the book shelves, demonstrating how materials are organized and how to locate subject-specific titles. A special emphasis was placed on identifying and using pure reference sources such as encyclopedias, handbooks, dictionaries, and statistical yearbooks — tools essential for academic assignments and research.

The visit was interactive and well-received, with students actively engaging in discussions and asking relevant questions. This orientation marked a significant step in empowering commerce students to make optimal use of library resources, both for their current curriculum and future academic pursuits.

We extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Devdatta Shete for encouraging his students to participate and for recognizing the value of information literacy in higher education.
