The Agasti Knowledge Resource Centre was delighted to host Dr. Rahul Waghmare, Head of the Department of Botany, who visited the library yesterday along with the TYBSc Botany students to participate in a specially organized library orientation programme.
Dr. Waghmare initiated the session by introducing the students to a range of essential reference books and academic reading materials available in the library that are particularly useful for studies in Botany and allied subjects. His interaction provided valuable academic direction and encouraged students to utilize library resources for their coursework and research.
Librarian Mr. Bachhav conducted a detailed demonstration covering:
- Library OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) for locating print resources,
- Access to N-LIST and DELNET for e-resources and inter-library loan facilities,
- Open Access platforms such as the NDLI (National Digital Library of India), Shodhganga, and
- Subject-specific resources like Open Access Journals from the Indian Academy of Sciences and NIScPR (National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research).
Additionally, students were informed about the newly developed library portal, and were guided on how to explore academic content relevant to their discipline. Mr. Bachhav also briefed students on library rules, available facilities, and services that can be availed at the Agasti Knowledge Resource Centre.
The orientation proved to be a meaningful initiative in promoting research culture and enhancing information literacy among science undergraduates.
We thank Dr. Waghmare for his active involvement and look forward to organizing more such collaborative academic activities.
